The Fowler Museum explores global arts and
cultures with an emphasis on works from Africa, Asia, the Pacific,
and the Americas, past and present. The Fowler seeks to enhance
understanding and appreciation of the diverse peoples, cultures,
and religions of the world through highly contextualized interpretive
exhibitions, publications, and public programming, informed by
interdisciplinary approaches and the perspectives of the cultures
represented.
Funding in support of the first major retrospective
of contemporary Cuban-American artist José Bedia entitled “The
Transcultural Pilgrim: Three Decades of Work by José Bedia.”
Scheduled to open September 2011.
