Education in LA – Gemini G.E.L.

On the evening of January 12, our Ed in LA group went to Gemini G.E.L where we were met by Suzanne Felsen and Ayn Grinstein (daughters of the Gemini G.E.L. founders).   We were treated to wine and appetizers then we went to the print room where Case Hudson (Gemini’s master printer) explained the process of printing from an etching.   We all had an opportunity to make an original PAA plate by making marks or designs with etching tools on a copper plate.   Case made a print for us on a very large press which John Baldessari never used and donated to Gemini.   Renee Coppola (Gemini G.E.L.’s Director of Sales) gave us a tour of the gallery space that is part of the original building Frank Gehry designed.   The print we created at Gemini will hang in the PAA office!
