On Friday, August 18th twenty members of the PAA had a summer adventure to see the Galka Scheyer: Maven of Modernism exhibition at the Norton Simon. A self-appointed ambassador for the “Blue Four” – Lyonel Feininger, Alexei Jawlensky, Paul Klee and Vasily Kandinsky, the exhibition included exceptional examples from Scheyer’s personal collection by the “Blue Four”, as well as many other works given to the museum in the early 1950’s. The Art Alliance has special history with the Norton Simon museum, and the group enjoyed seeing this exceptional exhibit with the expert guidance of Caroline Jones. After our tour, we savored the experience together, and enjoyed a sunny box lunch in the sculpture garden. All in all it was a lovely day at the Norton Simon.
