The Art Alliance ladies met at LACMA and were treated to a docent-led tour of the of the PAA funded The Finest Disregard exhibition of work by Magdalena Suarez Frimkess. Even though she is in her seventh decade of work, this is the first museum show of the LA based and Venezuelan born artist. She was trained in painting, printmaking and sculpture in Venezuela, Chile, and New York and this show demonstrates her talent with dozens of examples. Many pieces seemed cartoonish but fun. She is still working at age 95!! An inspiration to us all.

In addition, we were treated to the Simone Leigh show of large scale bronze female torsos with dynamic cowrie shell headdresses. Feted at the Venice Biennial this year, many of the lucky ladies were already familiar with her stunning work which included chandeliers and of course, the perfect female form.

A fabulous time was had by all!!
