April 2025 General Meeting – Kidspace
As work ramped up for our annual fundraiser, the PAA stepped out for some “playtime” at the Pasadena Kidspace Museum on April 3. The meeting was full of news regarding Le Petite Treasure Sale and the upcoming trip to London. And we enjoyed an inspiring discussion with Chief Executive Officer Lisa Clements. Lisa came to Kidspace in 2020 from the J. Paul Getty Museum where she led educational initiatives at both the Getty Center and Getty Villa. She is leading Kidspace into the next era of play-based learning experiences – incorporating physical, social emotional, sensory, cognitive, and communication skill-building activities, which are critical to healthy child development. “We curate experiences that maximize curiosity and connection as engines for learning, meaning-making, social attachment, and discovery,” said Lisa. “These experiences center on the power of play.”
Following the meeting Chief Experience Officer Erik Bertellotti took us on a tour of Wire for Wonder – a Multisensory Maze for All Ages. Featuring works from four Southern California Artists – Alison Saar, d. Sabela grimes, Suchitra Mattai, and Miguel Osuna – Wired for Wonder uses art to challenge and expand our perceptions of reality, revealing how cultural influences shape memory, touch, sound, smell, sight, and imagination. Navigating the color-changing maze and exploring the immersive artworks with PAA friends was simply a lot of fun!
