March 2026 General Meeting
It was a blustery, beautiful morning as ladies of the PAA gathered outside the Los Angeles Museum of Art for the March general meeting. Encircled by Ai Weiwei’s monumental animal/zodiac sculptures, Benefits Chair Vivian Rescalvo reminded members that it’s never too late to support this year’s fundraising efforts by becoming a patron and invite friends to the 23rd Biennial Art Auction on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at The Pit.
After the meeting, members enjoyed a walk-through of “Grounded” with Rita Gonzales, Curator and Department Head of Contemporary Art. Through 40 works by 35 artists, the exhibition illuminates how human experience is embedded in the land. Artists consider the lasting effects of colonialism and imperialism, share stories of forced migration and displacement, engage with Indigenous mythologies and motifs and retell ancestral histories by forging new aesthetic languages. “Grounded” highlights the museum’s holdings of works by local artists as well as Latino and Chicano artists, and its burgeoning collection of works by Indigenous artists, spanning from the late 1970s to today.
After the meeting, members made their way to the Original Farmer Market to enjoy a delicious lunch at Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Bistro and Market.
