Frederick R. Weisman Museum of art at Pepperdine University was dedicated in September of 1992, and since then, has showcased modern and contemporary art by internationally recognized artists, with a focus on art made in California. Under the current director, it is redirecting its focus to the work of women artists.

The Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University will get funding in support of the exhibition Karl Haendel: Less Bad.  A solo exhibition of exquisitely rendered, large-scale drawings by the LA-based artist is co-organized with the Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah. Haendel has earned a global reputation for his striking, photo-realistic drawings, often unconventionally installed. His commitment to traditional drawing techniques in an era of digital dominance is both a technical choice and a conceptual statement. May – July, 2025
