Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)

Olga Vanegas

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) was founded in 1979 by artists, philanthropists, and civic leaders with the mission of building the defining museum of contemporary art. By providing a dynamic, interactive forum, the museum is able to introduce contemporary art to a large audience. MOCA serves over 300,000 visitors annually at two unique locations that make contemporary art readily accessible to the diverse communities of Los Angeles.

MOCA will receive a grant in support of MOCA Focus: Takako Yamaguchi, organized by MOCA Senior Curator Anna Katz. The third installation of the recently relaunched MOCA Focus series, this exhibition features new paintings belonging to Yamaguchi’s recent landscape series. Combining “Eastern” and “Western” traditions, these oil paintings synthesize the motifs Yamaguchi has developed over the past four decades. At age seventy-two, Yamaguchi is hitting her stride–and finally getting the attention she is due. June 29, 2025 – March 15, 2026
