Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College
Founded in 1983, the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College presents exhibitions spanning a wide range of art. Whether historical or contemporary, exhibitions enrich the teaching of art and humanities at Scripps as well as the cultural community of Claremont and its environs. Since 1996, the gallery has invited guest curators to organize the annual ceramics exhibition.
Scripps will receive funding for the publication of a color catalog for the Williamson Gallery’s Scripps College 81st Ceramic Annual Exhibition. The exhibition will highlight works by contemporary artists who use clay as part of broader artistic practices rather than creating individual vessels or sculptures. Installations, digital fabrications, paintings, and other media—all including ceramic elements—will demonstrate the dynamism of the medium as well as its continued relevance. January, 2026
