December 22 General Meeting – MOCA
Pasadena Art Alliance members met in-person at MOCA, Grand for our general meeting and for
a guided tour of the current exhibition, Henry Taylor: B Side.
Annaly Bennett opened the meeting and introduced the new members and guests who
were present.
Patty Zuber provided the current financial report and mentioned that members can make
stock donations.
There are 26 packets of gratitude cards still left and Jeannie Vaughn encouraged
members to purchase them.
A reminder about the pop-up sale of 13 artworks donated by Mary Gerke. Preview is on
December 15 th and sale on December 16 th at Alfrida King’s residence. All proceeds go
towards Grants and Awards.
Holly Hancock and Liz Salvati are arranging a to visit the Cheech Museum in Riverside
either in late January or early February for Inside LA.
Mary Alexander wants members who plan to go to New Orleans to bring their deposit
check to her house on December 12th at 9 am. You can also bring a check for another
member.
Katy Champ and Nancy Foster (stand in for Shelley Sackett) gave their Fringe Benefit
presentation and an update. Don’t miss the costume changes!
Betty Duker’s collection is now online for viewing for anyone who is interested.
Don’t forget your bows for the holiday party on December 8th at Deedie McCarthy’s
home!
Update on Impact Award Linda Brownridge.
We will meet at the Hammer Museum on 5th January 2023 and will have an opportunity
to view the Joan Didion exhibition.
The main highlight was the tour of the current exhibition, Henry Taylor: B Side curated by
MOCA Senior Curator, Bennett Simpson and Curatorial Assistant, Anastasia Kahn. Clara Igonda
introduced Chief curator, Klara Kim previously from the Tate Modern. There is a total of 152
works in the exhibition, featuring a wide selection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and
installation. The works date from as early as 1985, and the latest, a few months ago in 2022.
Anastasia gave an excellent in-depth tour of the exhibition and background on the artist.
After the exhibition members convened for a tasty lunch at Vespaio across the street.
